VIDEO PRODUCTION NOTES
Dark Mode is a podcast that delves into all aspects of cybersecurity. From data breaches to strategies for preventing hacking, it serves as a digital security guard, keeping you informed about the latest trends, threats, and solutions in the cyber world.
On the other hand, CSO Group is a cybersecurity business based in Sydney, Australia. They are known as the real-life heroes of the digital realm, protecting businesses and individuals from cyber threats. Their expertise is highly sought after, and they were invited as special guests on a recent episode of Dark Mode.
Production
Recording a podcast might sound simple, but there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes. The goal was to capture the conversation in the best possible way. To achieve this, our production team used four different cameras:
- Wide Shot: One camera was set up to capture the entire group of people involved. This provided a broad view of the discussion, ensuring that nothing was missed.
- Closeup Angles: Three additional cameras were strategically placed to focus on the individual speakers. These closeup shots allowed viewers to see the expressions and reactions of each participant, making the conversation more engaging.
At the end of the episode, we recorded some B-roll footage featuring the four individuals. This footage was intended for use in a highlights video, providing a dynamic visual element to the podcast. The raw footage of this B-roll was given to Dark Mode, allowing them to use it in any way they saw fit.
Post-Production
We meticulously edited the entire podcast, considering the multiple camera angles to create a visually engaging experience for the audience. We cut the video to focus on the individual who was speaking at any given time. This ensured that viewers could easily follow the conversation.
The audio source for the podcast was provided by the venue (shout out to Damn Good Productions in Newtown, NSW and their amazing team!). Our team took great care to ensure exceptional audio quality, making sure it was free from any unwanted background noise.
We fine-tuned the audio to ensure that the participants’ voices were clear and well-balanced. Furthermore, we applied normalisation techniques to maintain a consistent audio level throughout the entire episode.
To maintain a consistent visual aesthetic, we employed colour matching methods to ensure that all camera angles seamlessly blended together. We also added basic graphics and logos to the top of the video to provide branding and context for the audience.
