When OpenTable wanted to show how their platform actually helps restaurants thrive — not just talk about it — they came to us to produce a case study video that could do both: tell the story and show the proof.
We headed to Dean & Nancy on 22 in Sydney CBD, a restaurant known for its cocktail program and lively evening atmosphere, to capture the full picture. This is one of the formats we shoot and edit most often, because it works: pair a genuine interview with real footage of the business in action, and you get a video that’s far more convincing than a straight promo piece.
Services Provided in This Production
For this video, we provided the following services to achieve a polished and engaging result:
The Interview
In the quiet of an afternoon, before service began, we sat down with the restaurant manager to talk through how OpenTable has supported the business. The conversation covered how the platform helps drive bookings, streamline front-of-house operations, and ultimately contribute to revenue — all in the manager’s own words, filmed in a calm, unhurried setting that let him speak naturally rather than reciting a pitch.
That’s a deliberate choice we make with every testimonial shoot. Interviews recorded in the middle of a busy environment tend to feel rushed and self-conscious. Giving the subject space and quiet almost always produces a more genuine, usable result.
The Restaurant at Night
Later that evening, we came back to film the restaurant in full swing — packed tables, a pianist setting the mood, bartenders in proper attire crafting cocktails, and the buzz of a Sydney CBD restaurant at its busiest. This footage does the heavy lifting that words alone can’t: it shows, rather than tells, what a thriving, well-booked restaurant actually looks like.
Cutting between the calm of the interview and the energy of service creates a natural rhythm in the edit — credibility from the manager’s voice, backed up by the atmosphere on the floor.
Two Formats, One Story
From this single shoot, we delivered two versions: a longer-format case study video for OpenTable’s website and sales use, and a punchier 30-second cut built for social media. Same footage, same story, tailored to how and where each audience would actually watch it — which is exactly the kind of flexibility we build into every production from the outset.
Why This Format Works
Case study and testimonial videos like this one are some of the most effective content a business can have. They combine a credible voice with real, visual proof — and for brands like OpenTable working with venues across Sydney, that combination builds trust with prospective clients far more effectively than a generic ad ever could.
If you’re looking for corporate video production in Sydney that captures your business or your clients’ success in a genuine, professional way, this kind of testimonial video is one of our specialties.
