At Matt Callian Videography, we’re dedicated to capturing and sharing stories that highlight innovation and impact. Last year, we partnered with the Research and Development Tax Incentive (R&D TI) and their communication partner Coretext to produce testimonial videos for two remarkable Australian startups that have benefited from the R&D Tax Incentive program.
The Project
The R&D Tax Incentive program supports Australian businesses by offering tax offsets for eligible R&D activities. To inspire more companies to apply, R&D TI needed engaging testimonial videos showcasing real-world success stories. The two startups selected for this project were Lavo and LLEAF, both leaders in their fields.
About the Featured Companies
- Lavo is pioneering the future of clean energy, making sustainable solutions accessible and reliable for Australian homes and businesses. They leverage Australia’s tech expertise to unlock the full potential of renewables, driving a positive global impact.
- LLEAF provides innovative agricultural films that enhance light absorption for crops, improving growth efficiency without using electricity. Their customisable light recipes help growers optimise plant growth across various climates and crop types.
Our Approach
We spent two days on-site filming—one day per company:
- Day 1: LLEAF – Filmed at LLeaf’s facility, capturing interviews and b-roll to showcase their innovative technology in action.
- Day 2: Lavo – Filmed at multiple locations, including UNSW and Lavo’s Sydney CBD office, highlighting their clean energy solutions.
We used our Full Setup service, providing professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to capture high-quality interviews and b-roll footage.
Each interview was filmed with two camera angles for a dynamic feel, with a producer from R&D TI on-site to guide the interview content.
Post-Production Process
After filming, we offered our Corporate Video Editing service to bring the project to life. We started by delivering cleaned-up interview files, allowing the client to review and select their preferred content.
Following this, our editing team put together polished testimonial videos, incorporating:
- B-roll footage, custom graphics, and licensed music
- Colour grading for a professional, cohesive look
- Multiple rounds of edits to ensure the final videos met the client’s vision
The completed videos were published on the R&D TI website to demonstrate the positive impact of the incentive program and inspire other businesses to explore its benefits.
