PRODUCTION NOTES
OpenTable provides a top-tier restaurant reservation platform, and one of their clients is the Ichi Group in Melbourne, a Japanese restaurant group. In this testimonial video, filmed in Melbourne at Ichi Ni NaNa, the Group’s COO and GM share their thoughts on why they chose to work with OpenTable and how OpenTable is assisting their operations with marketing tools and filling up their restaurants with both new and returning customers.
Our videographer spent half a day at the location, equipped with cameras, lights, and audio gear to record both interviews. For this session, we decided to film the interviews in two different rooms of the restaurant while it wasn’t operating. This gives the audience a better idea of the space and the restaurant’s size and diversity.
We then returned to the restaurant during its operational hours and captured some b-roll footage of the team working, utilizing the OpenTable platform, showcasing customers and the ambiance, as well as shots of the kitchen and food. B-roll footage is crucial for enhancing the video’s appeal, complementing the testimonial’s talking points, keeping the audience engaged, and smoothing out transitions between takes to create a seamless viewing experience.
During post-production, we collaborated closely with OpenTable to create an engaging video. We provided them with the entire testimonial footage and a selected version of the talking points, enabling them to refer back to the full interviews and adjust the testimonial according to their preferences. After several rounds of revisions, we settled on this final version of the video, effectively capturing why the Ichi Group chose to partner with OpenTable, emphasizing its effectiveness as a marketing tool for business growth and its user-friendly nature for staff during service.
Music, color, transitions, and style were all refined to align with OpenTable’s branding and the vibe of the Ichi Group. From this video production, we particularly love the enhanced colors and ambiance of the restaurant, achieved through skillful color grading.
For this production, we created two videos: an extended version (above) and a shorter vertical version tailored for social media, available below.
