When Odin Constructions completed a full backyard renovation in Oyster Bay, NSW, they brought us on to capture the finished result — and turn it into a showcase piece that does justice to the craftsmanship involved.
The Project
This wasn’t a small tidy-up. Odin’s team excavated close to 50 tonnes of dirt and sandstone to reclaim usable space, then built retaining walls, a tiled patio connecting seamlessly to the home’s interior, and an expansive Merbau decking staircase with inlaid strip lighting running the full length of the treads. The result is a luxury outdoor entertaining space that feels like a natural extension of the home.
How We Filmed It
We shot the finished renovation across two sessions — one in the afternoon, one in the evening — specifically to capture how the space performs in different light. The afternoon session showcased the textures, materials, and layout in natural daylight. The evening session let the inlaid deck lighting and overall ambience come through, which is often what actually sells an outdoor renovation to a prospective client.
Gear-wise, we used a combination of handheld camera work, gimbal for smooth movement through the space, and drone footage to show the scale of the transformation from above. Six hours of filming across the two sessions gave us enough coverage to edit a clean, real-estate-style b-roll piece set to music — no interviews, no voiceover, just the work speaking for itself.

Why This Approach Works for Construction & Landscaping Portfolios
For construction and landscaping businesses, a well-shot video does something photos alone can’t — it shows scale, flow, and finish quality in a way that helps prospective clients picture themselves in the space. Filming in two different lighting conditions is a simple addition that makes a big difference in how “finished” and premium the space feels on screen.
If you’ve just completed a project you’re proud of, this is exactly the kind of video that turns a job into a marketing asset.
