VIDEO PRODUCTION NOTES
The team at SaltoFit Sydney were look at producing a short video to introduce their potential audience to their work-out energy classes.
Being this a type of group exercise that is performed in a large room, using trampolines and disco lights to the rhythm of dance music, it was the perfect visual environment to make an appealing video that stands out from the usual gym or group exercise advertising.
The challege with this type of video productions is: when lights are dimmed, cameras don’t perform at their best.
Using a combination of low light lenses and additional LED portable lights helped overcome the problem and capture professional looking footage. The use of a gimbal also helped during tracking shots and movements across the room.
Another trick that we used, for some of the sequences, was the higher than standard shutter speed. This way we can help the camera capture more light, and at the same time achieve an in-camera strobe effect, perfect for this type of video that promotes movement and energy in a disco-like environment.
This marketing video was etremely fun to shoot and edit, the music chosen by the editor reflects the speed of the music used during the workout, making it easier to match the music with the movements. Nevertheless, this was probably the biggest challenge that we had in the editing room, because we wanted the video to match the music to make it more compelling to watch.
